Someone has posted a video on Youtube, a must-see for anyone contemplating buying new/off-plan.

I protest strongly. As this is an insult to Beirut and Palesrtine. As the demise of the two places can be placed onto Israel .
Who, are the enemies of Spain ???? Have Spain not recognised them !!!!. Shouldnt’ The developers be declared as terrorist organisation and the townhall, lawyers agents be charged for assiting them. PP or Aznar cannot blame this on ETA.

With respect, I think you are both missing the video-maker’s point. It’s obvious the comparisons were made purely from the visual aspect (hence asking you to look at the pictures and guess where they’re taken). The actual causes of such a horrible mess can obviously not be compared with Beirut or Palestine.
I have many Muslim friends, among them a Palestinian and Lebanese (married) couple who live in London. I sent them the link to ask their opinion re. it possibly causing offence and their reply was along the lines of first shock how indeed it did look like scenes from their own countries. On the question of being offended they simply said why should they be, that visually the comparison is a good one, and that mainly they just feel sorry for the Spanish who have to ‘suffer the knowledge’ (their words) that the Spanish did it to themselves. They also made the interesting comment “we believe if anyone does act offended at this, they are only the fanatics who look for any excuse. Anyone not blinded with fanatacism would understand the context both countries were used in this instance”.
Wise words from wise people.Looking past those first few moments in the video, I do think it is a good wake-up call for Spain when such damning stuff is posted on such a popular website.
Spain has to clean up their whole act and fast and bring those responsible for this devastation to task. Hopefully videos like this will help that process. -

My comments were tongue & cheek. It was no way biased towards any religion or its followers.I fully understand what the “youtube” maker was trying to achieve. He/she could have added Kabul & Baghdad to it. To use the examples of Palestine a nation destroyed by the fall out of the guilt of the West and a country like Lebanon being situated next to Israel was not the right example. The developers, Mayors, town planners did not have to create what they have created as they were neither under occupation nor have a civil war/fractions fighting each other.
I am sure that the people from Palestine, Lebanon, Baghdad, Kabul will give there right arm to live in the area that is on “youtube”
There is no hidden agenda its just a fact of current life that has been created because of events in the past. Your friends are entitle to their views sitting comfortably in their lounges.

I do not do any relegion. As such no where any reference is made to any relegion.
My posting was tongue & cheek as stated. The fact that the Spanish developers or the construction industry in Spain do not find themselves in the circumstances of the country/city that has been refered to in “youtube” they have opted for it.
I am aware that sadly there are similar places in South africa, Latin America and dare I saw in many cities in North America.

Charlie in fact made the first reference to religion by stating she’d asked her ‘Muslim’ friends their opinion. What a ridiculous argument this has turned into. It’s really now just about those who just look at the cover of a book, and those who chose to open it & look a bit deeper – IMO.
We’re all entitiled to differing opinions on here – I hope ❗

As, another forum user decided to go down the relegion route. The posting got historical/political.
The Palestinians. i.e. the Jews, Muslims, Christians lived together until the creations of Israel. The state of Palestine did not have a relegion. They the followers of the three relegion at the time of the creation of Israel left Palestine to other countries some voluntary others were forced out. The residents of Beirut are mainly Muslims and Christian and I am sure that there some Jews who had been living there for centuries and would call themselves Labenese first.
I personally feel that the focus of the forum should not be distracted. However in conclusion I must say that the people of Palestine & Beirut
had little say in their town planning. Perhaps we should have a situation like Palestine atleast the bulldozers would have done the job. -

Charlie – just because I disagree with you doesn’t mean I ‘totally missed the point’. The impact the video-maker is hoping to achieve is clear in its comparison, but the choice of comparison is very inappropriate, in my opinion. I’m clearly in the minority here, but not alone.
There was a recent thread re: a Youtube video on Medsea, which someone made in trying to get his money back. I think he has had to remove it now, while he takes legal action against the developer.

The Video was as real source of debate regarding the Spanish property market in that area specifically, and how that might be replicated in other areas, and its a shame that we were unable to.
I personally am not prepared to argue on a side issue, my time, as yours is to valuable.
Frank, good to see you back after a few days, been anywhere nice ? and if anyone is going to be upset it sure won’t be me.
The forum is a bit like the pub, and my dad always told me not to talk personally about politics or religion and (tounge in cheek) is even worse.
