SNAPSHOT: Swedish market in Q2 2025

Swedish demand for Spanish property has stabilised after several years of decline, but the latest figures show it remains well below past highs.

A modest uptick, but still below trend

In Q2 2025, Swedes bought around 640 homes in Spain — up 7% compared to the same quarter last year. However, this was almost 20% below their ten-year average, underlining how far activity has fallen since the peak years before 2019.

Looking at the first half of the year, Swedish buyers acquired just over 1,270 homes, an increase of 6% year-on-year but nearly 19% under their long-run average. In short, demand is no longer falling, but it hasn’t returned to its former strength either.

Losing ground in the foreign market

Sweden’s market share has dropped significantly in the past decade. In Q2, Swedes accounted for 2.6% of all foreign purchases, compared to highs close to 7% a decade ago.

The long-term index highlights the scale of this retreat: set at 100 in 2015, Swedish demand now stands at 102, while the foreign market as a whole has more than doubled to 216.

This means that while other foreign markets have expanded rapidly, Swedish demand has barely grown in ten years. The result is a much smaller footprint for Swedish buyers in Spain today than in the past.
