Taylor Wimpey, a leading British developer that also sells some of the best quality holiday homes in Spain, reports that enquires from potential buyers interested in its Spanish properties have surged by 40% in the lead up to Easter, suggesting that the market is far from dead if the product and price is right.
True, buyer interest normally increases in the weeks before Easter, as winter-weary Britons take advantage of their Easter holidays in Spain to soak up sun and hunt for the holiday home of their dreams. But this year Taylor Wimpey expects a significant surge in sales as pent-up demand is unleashed on the opportunities now available in Spain. Sales results this year bode well for Easter: In the first quarter of the year Taylor Wimpey has doubled the number of reservation deposits it took compared to last year.
Taylor Wimpey, who build and sell some of the best quality holiday homes on the Costa del Sol, Costa Blanca, and Mallorca, also reveal that their clients are far from the stereotypical retired couple looking to relocate to Spain. 75% of their clients are executives between 35 and 50 years old, married with kids, and more than 50% of them are looking for a holiday home where they will spend between 45 to 60 days a year (20 to 30 days in July and August, the remainder throughout the year).
Taylor Wimpey can also reveal that their clients spend on average 6,300 Euros a year in Spain on housing, food, and transport costs. Not a bad deal when you consider what it would cost you to spend up to 60 days holidaying with your family on a luxury resort in the sun if you didn’t own a Taylor Wimpey home in Spain.
