Why delete this topic with it’s S. Times links to their mis-selling Mark when it serves as a warning to new and unwary purchasers? Casalaloba for one had not previously read the links before.
Have they put pressure on you and if so people should be extremely wary about dealing with Ocean Estates? Steer clear of them!
Didn’t notice it had disappeared 😕 Strangely. I had a missed call on my mobile 2 days ago. When I called back the reply was “Ocean Estates” I said someone had rung me from the number. She said “We have 40 operators working from here so I cannot say, if it is important they will call you back” So it must have been cold calling!
I haven’t deleted it, I’ve taken it off public view. Though we no doubt all agree with the comments, some of them were arguably defamatory. If people want to make potentially libellous comments, they have to do so without the cover of anonymity, which means giving full name and contact details, and I don’t have time to organise that.
I will always leave intelligent criticism, but to be on the safe side I have to take down anything potentially defamatory. Please understand my position.
I missed this deleted topic, but I do remember seeing that Ocean boss on a stand at an exhibition last year. Scary looking guy in a really bad pin-stripe suit, accompanied by an army of sales people clutching their clipboards. Sent me running in the opposite direction.
Mark I agree with Fuengi, couldn’t you just delete a posting, not the topic in general?
The links aren’t defamatory since they are S. Times articles and still relevant when your newer members to this site are not aware of their shinanigins in the past.
People are continuously making threads where links to articles are from reputable sources are posted.
Why not set up a thread similar to an anouncement thread where such links could be kept. That way some forumers won’t need to repost the same links for each newbie that comes along?
Since the thread would not be for people to critize, just a useful database of existing article links, the companies mentioned would not have any right to complain/threating this site.
Fuengi, that’s a brilliant idea, links to media exposes such as the Sunday Times and TV progs. should be there permanently for ALL to read.
They are always there on Eye On Spain but since Mark’s site is I believe less biased towards agents etc and therefore a fairer insight into property problems in Spain, I would like to see the links here.
How about it Mark, especially since you write articles for the Sunday Times?
I’m probably the guilty party for using words such as “froth” and “non-domestic beastie” in philosophying on OE and others involved in real estate sales. The actual words were a tad stronger! But no more “flowery” than the picture so often presented by the RE intermediaries! Anyway, apologies to Mark for my political incorrectness ;-).
