Probably nothing, is my guess. He met with Spanish PM Zapatero yesterday, but I doubt he mentioned the plight of British property owners in Spain who have had their property rights trampled on with impunity.
Cleggs wife who is Spanish is taking up a very lucrative post with a Spanish wind turbine company. The Lib -Dems want more wind farms in the UK. (Hmm?) Maybe that topic came up sometime over the meal!
Like you Mark, I very much doubt he discussed the corruption in Spain that thousands of Brits have experienced and are victims of.
i doubt a load of people who have taken them selves of to spain and are drawing their pension to spend there instead of the UK are top of his worry list at the moment,he was more likely trying to establish how bad things are in spain and the effect it will have on the euro,if the pound rises strongly against it our exports will suffer and at this time that is somwthing that we don’t need.On a personal note and with my holiday in a few weeks i would love to see 1.25 to my pound or more
I read a report recently by one of Spain’s green organisations. They claim that many of the construction companies are diverting into constructing solar and turbine “farms”. The reason being that there is a lot of grants available from Brussels. They predict many will be constructed and left to rot afterwards 🙄
Mrs Clegg wife is not only Spanish but a lawyer as well. So they as a couple should be well aware and should have a wider picture of not only the property problems but the impotent legal system.
