      Hi there

Has anyone purchased properties from either Masa or Atlas International?

I’m doing the usual rounds of checking the net, mags, tv etc. Contemplating buying in Spain – not sure on whether to go on these veiwing trips but will be very wary and keep money in pocket!!

Any experiences with either of these companies would be extremely appreciated.

We had friends who in 2001 purchased off plan from Atlas 2 years before they intended to move out to Costa Blanca. When the time arrived nothing had been built and they had a very difficult time trying to get their money back (in the end they did not get it all).

This is the only experience I have of them so it may be an isolated case and I have only heard one side of the story but I would be careful, particularly if you are buying off plan.

Not an isolated case by any means, also be aware that they use very very hard sell tactics on their inspection trips . Masa I believe are quite similar and they where featured very heavily about 2 years ago on a daytime tv show, called holiday homes from hell or some such title , due to some shocking quality builds round the Murcia region.

I would advise against taking an organised inspection trip. In most cases you will be shown only properties the agent wants you to see (the ones that earn the most commision).
My advise is do as much re search as possible before you visit, decide on an area and find out what the market value is for property in that area.
Then travel to Spain under your own steam & see and talk to as many people as possibe.

Masa add massive commisions on top of properties – keep well away.

My friend worked for them and had extensive hard sell training. They wanted to add 26000 euros onto the price of my property.

They are all extremely friendly for the wrong reasons.!!!!!

Just remembered the programme that featured Masa properties, it was called European nightmare and the properties that kept cropping up where bungalows , somewhere inland near Mazarron. Had a big problem in the area with properties sinking. Still can’t remember the name of the urbanisation though. Needless to say the owners where left devastated .

Urbanisation is called Camposol. I strongly recommend that anyone thinking of buying from Masa first visit this urbanisation, unaccompanied, and talk to people who have already bought there. I spent a very depressing couple of hours talking to residents there last year.

Thank you everyone for this information – I’ve made up my mind – not going near them!!

I will take my time, am looking to go to the Costa de la luz area sometime in the autumn, If anyone knows of any reputable agents and lawyers in that area – post a reply.

      Hi Mark.

The urbanisation in Murcia is indeed called Camposol and is built by GRUPO MASA. They are nothing to do with MASA INTERNATIONAL. We went to see Camposol 2 years ago and we were not at all impressed

      Regards

      Paul
