I posted back in February about the unexpected commission of 0.4% taken by our bank when we transferred money and said I would post an update.

After many weeks of writing, telephoning and eventually writing to the Country Manager and chasing again, I am pleased to say the bank have agreed to refund all of the commission, nearly 1,700 euro.

I hope this helps someone reading this who may be in a similar situation. Initially we were asked to accept a discounted rate on future transactions but we persevered, as we were never informed of such charges, and have been pleased that the situation has been resolved to our satisfaction.
