Amanda Lamb, an overseas property expert and presenter of the Channel 4 show A Place in the Sun, said:
“There doesn’t seem to be any end in sight to people wanting to buy abroad. We sometimes think, is the bubble going to burst? But there is no sign of it.”
How can someone be so obtuse ? 😯
Thre are signs all over the place that the bubble is deflating: Australia, USA, Spain …
Talking about vested interests … 🙄

I went to this exhibition. No sign of Interealty there. Have they gone under?
In one of the lectures there, a guy from Barclays said that in addition to the anticipated reduction in CGT for non-residents, the retention on sale will be reduced from 5% to 3% on 1 Jan ’07.

When they closed a lot of money was owed to workers and agents etc. His boat has gone from Banus but have heard it was seen in Sotogrande.

Having attended the “A Place in the Sun Exhibition “we found Amanda Lamb to be charming and very sympthetic to our plight.
We were introduced to some key people at the event who have asked us to provide background information on our situation in order to assist in taking matters further.
Case studies and tighter controls need to be in place so that unscrupulous developers (many of whom are mentioned on this site) cannot attend these exhibitions. Maybe we could start a “Black List”
A….s and Awful Estates are such companies and proudly demonstrated their “opportunities” last weekend in Birmingham. The staff seem to be either stupid or thick skinned as when challenged, they defend their company and suggest that any bad publicity is not generated from any of their actions.
It is up to us to provide the Organisers of these events with information to prevent any Developer of dubious nature and Property Agents of similar persuasion showing there to avoid more Brits getting sucked into their web of deceit.

I agree 100%
unscrupulous developers/agents should be blacklisted and forbidden from holding or taking part in any exhibitions anywhere in europe.
It just amazes me how they get away with it for so long without europe intervening. The european laws , the latest one being that you should not ride a bicycly without a bell… well somewone should ring their bell and get them to wake up and sort all this out, they should put their effort into the important things such as protecting decent people!
