The mayors of Cómpeta and Sayalonga have been aquitted of giving out building licences on unurbanised land.

The Cómpeta one claims he didn’t know what he was signing. Effectively the Judges are giving Mayors the green light to continue with urban abuse!

………and so it goes on!. Is there really any hope of change?

Since it’s been going on since Adam was a lad the answer is NO. The exact same things was common practice 25/30 years ago. The difference then was The Junta de Andalucia always turned a blind eye or ignored it. Legalisation always happened eventually.
That was the way things were done. Culture is hard to change.
There was no land registry either. The Maire sent round a man on a horse to register properties. If you were out when he called the property was never recorded so it didn’t exist. 😀

Another aquittal!

This one in the Marbella Malaya case. He had 9 licences to build in Marbella. The courts ordered him to cease building but he continued. The prosecution asked for a sentence of 12 months, the Judge thought otherwise and absolved him 🙄
