Hi All,

Hope someone can help. Having bought a house in extremadura at the end of 2016 we bought a car in Spain last year to use when we visit, but before we were registered with the empadronamiento, so bought it and insured in my brother in laws name (he lives in Madrid). We now are registered where we bought the house so want to change ownwership into my name and swap over the insurance. Will we have to declare the full value of the car for the 4% tax or can we put a nominal value?

I paid for the car, bought from a dealer, including the transfer tax and have proof of the bank transfer so was hoping not to have to pay the full fee again just to put it in our name. Does anyone know if this is possible or am I going to have to pay the full fee based on the current valuation.
