I thought that the Spanish reaction was interesting. It seems that they want EU money but still think that they can do what they want.

Yes, actually. I think it’s a bit of a cheek to make an agreement to take someone’s money, and then refuse to keep the agreement that was made. It’s not as if they are even trying to re-negotiate. It seems that they are just wishing to ignore what they signed up for. I think it’s a very dangerous line to take, because I would imagine that a myriad of other practices that are against EU regulations have probably flown under the radar until now, and they are just drawing attention to themselves.

Highlights the problem with Spanish regional governments in particular. They’ve run out of other people’s money.

@daryl: I think you have not yet established the Spanish way of life from a home, small business, large corporate, regional governments, Central Government.

Just drive in south of Spain & you will notice the replacement of olive trees with solar panel ???, The Bank guarantee which is enforced against a borrower but not against the Bank etc.

      I think perhaps you’re right.
