The average person working in Spain earning €24,000 p.a. has to work 130 days to reach tax freedom day, taking into account all the taxes you have to pay living in Spain (income tax, VAT, rates…).
Tax freedom day was 4 May last year, this year it’s 10 May. Thanks to rising taxes across the board all of us who live and work in Spain have to work 6 days more this year than last year before we get to keep what we earn.
Cantabria and Catalunya have the highest taxes, where you have to work until 14/15 May to reach tax freedom day, as illustrated by the graphic below. At least it’s not long now….. 🙄
