Spanish cement use falls to lowest level in 40 years

      Spain used to pour more cement per year than any other European country. Cement use has now fallen to the lowest level in 40 years, according to the Oficemen trade association.

      Bad news for cement makers but good news for the environment.

      Indeed good news for the environment. Sadly the damage has been done.

      The Holcim plant here in Lorca has been shut since october 2008. After complete maintenance in 2009 , there are just skeleton staff there at present with most of the others transferred to other plants. No one got laid off & it’s ready to go at a moments notice.
