I have read that there is a proposal that from 2007, the capital gains tax will be 18% on second properties ( i.e. not your main property in Spain)
The Spaniards will pay additional 3% and non Spaniards will pay 17% less.
Can somebody confirm ?????. This is good news and I am sure that the forum had been instrumental in its efforts to bring this fairness.
The Banks are next and we have to start building pressure on them.

Perhaps it’s all part of the “clean up” of the Spanish property market. Good news if it happens.

Note that the Spanish Government quietly put up CGT this year from 19pc to 21pc.

I doubt if many Spanish expect to make any capital gains for quite a few years anyway

That is what I felt. However the capital gains also cover other gains of a capital nature e,g stocks and in addition there will people who had bought in the 60,70’s
