Are there any clubs or associations for British people living in the Costa Brava? We can’t find any.

You could start with the Empordà branch of the British Society of Catalonia. The web address is http://bsce.freeservers.com and there you will find all the relevant contact details and numbers (look in the ‘Our Committee’ section). The Secretary should know about all the different clubs and associations of Brits in the area. It should be said that there isn’t a huge community of Brits / Irish on the Costa Brava in stark contrast to the ghettos further South. But that is part of the attraction of the area. The whole area is mainly Spanish / Catalan but there is a good mix of other nationalities such as French and Dutch. The balance is perfect – there are enough expatriates to sustain a social life but not so many to make you wonder whether you are in Spain.

CONTACT FOR THE BRITISH SOCIETY OF CATALUNYA – L’Escala Branch – You can try Janet Tordoff at 972 77 40 25 (she’s not the Chairperson, but she’s on the committee and so could give you any information you want, or re-direct you.

      -The Conservatives Abroad, Empordà Branch
Chairman is Des Sherriff at 972 623 525

There is a BRITISH SOCIETY OF CATALUNYA Roses Branch, but I’m not sure who is in charge, if you are interested you could speak to David McMurdie at 972 15 23 14. I don’t think he’s on the Committee but would be able to redirect you.
