Apparently, if you kick up a big enough fuss…

The route of the AVE High Speed Train past Turre (Almería) has been moved to avoid the home of an English couple who had bought their land and built their house in the campo after being told by the Turre ayuntamiento that the property would not be affected by the planned route. They then found out that, actually, it was going to go clean through their sitting room (and that the Turre council knew this at the time).
After lots of publicity in the British press and some behind-the-scenes work here in Spain, the route has now been modified!
