Hi We are looking for a place to rent that is big enough for two people and two small kids in the area of malaga. I would be grateful if anybody could let me know if they have anything suitable. 😆
Hello Emma
Seen your post and may well be able to help, especially if you are looking for good-value temporary accommodation first to see if you like the Malaga area before making a permanent move.
To get a clearer idea…
How long would you like the property for?
Do you have already have a school which your oldest child will be going to?
Do you prefer town or country locations?
Do you drive?
Any idea of budget per month?
Just let me know and I can put you in touch with the owners directly 😀 .
Sarah
We are looking for a place for a minimum of three months. our oldest childs is three so not sure if she would go to school yet maybe nursery we would like to be near amenities. We do drive but would not like to be too far out. Look forward to your reply.
I have a lovely and safe ground floor 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment near the sea within walking distance of all amenities just outside of Marbella. I think the owner will be OK with 1100euros per month until mid-July then he will want it back ready to short-term rent for the school holidays. We are just furnishing it for him now and it’ll be ready in about 4 weeks time.
(NB. You’ll find that often owners will not want to rent for the whole year as they can make as much in July and August per week as they do per month the rest of the year).
If you’d like something a bit cheaper then I’ll give you Simon Wye’s contact details – he’s a very good local managing agent for some of my properties and he has a lot of other properties available. Let me know.
Katy….OW! That hurt! 😥 Please, before you bash the agents (not all of us are Costa Cowboys!) why not read my first reply to Emma?
Yes, of course properties can be found for less but if she would like a luxury beach line property walking distance to all amenities + full furnished in Marbella then 1100euros is fair….and to be fair to me I did ask what her budget would be and so far did not receive a reply. Also note that I am not a rentals agent so would not be taking a commission, just trying to help out one of my owners. Mark would shoot me down in flames if he thought I was trying to profit from a post!.
NB 700/800 euros is fine if you want to be squeezed into one of the hundreds of units available at the back of La Reserva de Marbella or at the top end of Calahonda, etc. but perhaps that is not what Emma is after? Emma – feel free to post again with more specific requirements (finca? house? apartment? price?) and I will do my best to help out. There are unscrupulous agents and also bad owners but I have no hesitation in giving you my nice owners’ contact details directly and any rental agent I recommend would provide you with a proven good service. Kind regards and hope to welcome you to the coast soon X.
Hi, sorry wasn’t actually getting at you. Funnily enough I was thinking La reserva. I thought maybe they had a small budget. A friend asked the agent to offer the owner a lower rent than the one advertised and the owner accepted. Just think it is better to shop around as there are thousands out there at the moment.
Ok, I’ve just realised the other reason we didn’t want to move to the south! We presently rent a huge 240m2 flat in the centre of a small town and pay 450 euros a month rent, including the commuidad (heating, shared area lighting etc)! Is stuff really that expensive in the south?
Heather 😯
youll never get a decent 2 bed for rent near merbella for 700-800 euros unless you get a right “chollo”. i pay 725 excluding bills for a 1 bed in banus, and i searched and searched before taking that on and it was the best i could find
Thanks for all your help my husband has gone out today to look for property when he gets back to england our intention is to put the house up for sale and then go and rent somewhere until we find the right property
A good source for long-term rental accommodation is the classified section of the local weekly english press http://WWW.SURINENGLISH.COM – Some of the adds are by agents who will generally charge the equivalent of 1 months rent in commission. Some agents charge commission from the owner so this can be avoided or else try to secure a rental direct from an owner. If you know anyone who reads spanish then try http://www.segundamano.com where the spanish advertise property.
Marbella is generally the more expensive area for rentals – I pay 650 euros a month for a 2 bed 1 bath in Fuengirola on a small complex with pool and kids playground although it can be hard to find anything at that price. Look on forums similar to this one for people who have bought investment property and are now struggling to pay their mortgage. They may be happy to negotiate a good long-term rental rate to help cover their costs.
Hi Emma,I have a 3 bed, 2 bath villa with private pool for 800euros.It may be a bit far out for you. It is 35mins drive from malaga at lake vinuela, but it is a nice area, and 10mins from the coast.
