Hi, we want to bring a car to Spain and at the moment it is registered in Ireland. Does anybody know the procedure for having it re-registered? Does it take long, is it expensive etc.
The car is a left-hand drive so should be no difficulty there, but do we have to be owners for a certain period of time? Any help would be gratefully received.
Thanks

Need to have owned the car for at least 6 months.
Best to use a gestor or your lawyer to do the paperwork. Very involved.
Your car has to have an ITV before going on Spanish plates.
Costs of this is relative to engine size.
Ours is 1600,and 18 onths old. Gestor charged us 450€ and ITV was just over 100€
Cheaper apparently to do it within 6 months of living in Spain.
Hope this helps.

The cost of an ITV for re-matriculation purposes is higher than the normal ITV charges – nearer €100 – the prices are displayed in the ITV centres.
