I read an article on buying property in Almeria in a property promotions magazine which stated that UK residents can now save up to 40% tax when buying a second home in Spain! The new tax concession has only just come into being in 2006. Has anyone heard of this and what exactly does it mean – regards

I think you will probably find that the tax break that you are referring to relates to the much-touted new SIPP rules that were due to come into effect on A-day – that is until that joker Gordon Brown changed his mind as the last minute!

I suspect the article you have been reading is either out of date, or downright misleading.
