      Hi,

I am hoping to view properties in Costa Blanca area soon and would like to use the services of companies that are organising viewing trips for £99 for 3-4 days.

There are a few companies offering such trips and they all say there is no obligation or pressure. Can somebody please recommend a reliable and trusted company I should use.

      Thanks

I previously did a bit of research on this. I would say that it is a bad idea. for a start they will only show you the properties that they have on their books, which is limiting. Secondly, they will not really want to let you alone to check things out for yourself. Thirdly., they say that there is no obligation, but you are likely to be pressurised into getting something then and there, and whilst fighting that off, you could be more usefully spending that time looking at other properties with other agents.

TBH it looks too good to be true, and it probably is. Much better to organise your own viewing trip, IMO. Maybe read this psot as well:

Very good advice from Daryl there, a viewing trip at £99 for 3-4 days will come with pressure from the agent involved. These viewing trips (probably say your £99 is returned if you reserve property) were all the rage in the bad old days, sorry to see them coming back. People inevitably get told what they want to hear and over lunch and a drink or two, they end up being seduced in the sun so to speak, bingo, down goes the deposit. 🙁

Ask the agent as a Company what commission they are making on each sale. 🙄

You’d be better off financially making your own viewing trip without being led to what they want to show you, then check to see if same properties are being marketed by different agents at different prices, then knock another 10-20% off, sooner or later someone will bite your hand off 🙄

They are very hard sell. many of the sales staff are ex-timeshare sales 👿

I second all the above. Go down yourself & see what you can find after all once the agent is gone i.e. not holding your hand you have to cope with life. so why not at the outset.

I agree. In this day and age of cheap travel so easy to arrange online, why save a few quid with an inspection trip only to make yourself a captive client, at risk of paying through the nose for everything else?

Are you looking at North or South Costa Blanca?

      Hi Dayrl

Thanks very much for your advice and especially the link to ‘Warts & All’ which is very useful to know……phew!!
Yes I will now make a personal trip.

      In the concluding advice ;
‘There is an alternative. There are now companies who offer the best of both worlds. They are independent of any builder, promoter or agents. You pay for your flights and accommodation and meals. They pick you up and take you out looking at areas and properties and charge you a day rate.’

Who are this companies that I can contact especially if I am looking at Costa Blanca area, can you or anybody please recommend?

Thanks to everybody else who have responded.

      Cheers

My experience has been that the agents are all prepared to pick you up and take you round anyway. You just have to juggle your time between agents. Once you have done a bit of research you will find a number of agents who have properties on their books that could suit you. Just give them a shortlist and they will organise the order to visit them. When I came over a couple of months ago they were all very helpful, and having seen my reaction to the first few properties, were able to massage the list and remove (as well as add) properties that they knew wouldn’t be suitable.

      Hi Mark,

Thanks for your advice.I would probably look at both the North and South of Costa Blanca and get an idea of the place.

Speaking for someone who has their property for sale this viewing trips are a pain in the arris. The “prospective” buyers know all the right questions to ask and haven´t any intention of buying your property.. just say the right thing so I can get a cheap three day holiday. Lets time it right just before lunch … have a quick look round and then off for a free meal. Oh yes make it look more genuine by taking a few photos which I can delete from my camera later on !!!! Its VERY UNFAIR on the vendor who obviously goes to great lengths to see that their property is clean and presentable knowing that its all going to end up with another day totally wasted.
