Has the property problems section been whooshed or is it just buried elsewhere….I can’t find it 😕

I’m playing with the structure of the forum to try and improve it. The better the structure, the better the participation.

I suspect that from the start this forum should have been structured by topic: buying, selling, building, maintenance, mortgages, taxes, renting, etc. The fact that it wasn’t partly explains why almost everything happens in the one ‘all about property’ forum.

Turns out the problems forum was not that different to the all about property forum, just far less busy. So I’ve merged them and moved all the posts into this forum.

I think that, overall, what this forum does very well is intelligent, informed discussion, and I don’t want to mess with that. But on the other hand, I suspect the structure is still not right, and discourages participation. You have to strike a balance between very narrow topics like ‘plumbing’, and very wide ones like ‘all about property’. The trick is to find the balance that encourages the most participation.

All websites forums tend to have one place where everyone posts about everything. Nobody can be bothered to read through multiple sub forums. Lazy? yes; understandable? completely.
