Midway through last year I was contacted by a leading British TV production company working on a series on buying property in Spain. They wanted depth of knowledge on the different regions and help in choosing which one to focus on next. I suggested Teruel, knowing as I do that it is the cheapest place in Spain to buy and also one of the most beautiful and tranquil parts of the country. Now I see that Teruel has been ranked one of the top places in the world to buy (Channel 4), above places like Barcelona, Mallorca and the Costa Del Sol. From unheard-off to top 10 is quite impressive in the space of a few months. Teruel is becoming more accessible and some parts of Teruel are exquisite so to a certain extent I agree with the ranking, though rural Teruel certainly won’t suit everyone. But those it does attract will encounter serious problems trying to buy property in Teruel, in provinces like Albarracín and Gudar-Javalambre, for the very basic reason that it is a backward part of Spain and lacks (on-line) property brokers and estate agents who speak English. Therefore in the next few weeks I shall be spending a few weeks in Teruel, finding all the providers that can help people interested in buying there, and putting together a Teruel property guide to help guide those who are interested. Hello Mark,

I’m a newbie to this site and I want to thank you for all the invaluable information available on it.
I’ve been considering trying get a foothold on the Spanish property ladder by purchasing offplan as it would help spread out my outlay considering that I have a propertywise commitment elsewhere for the next 12 months.
Then again I have thought to heck with worrying about eventual rentals to cover costs why not buy inland for less money and less stress! So I was delighted to read that you are compiling a Teurel Property Guide as I have been trying to find out information on that area with virtually no success.
I will look forward to reading your report and once again thank you for this Forum. 😀

      Eileen.
