I’ve heard from a friend of mine who lives on the Costa Del Sol that the real estate company Oaklands International is in a financial crisis, can’t pay their staff and have had their bank accounts frozen. I’m waiting for a refund on my deposit and concerned I won’t get it back. Also when I’ve called them they keep saying they will call me back and don’t. This raises a major concern to me.
Has anyone heard anything about this? and more importantly, will I get my money back?
We are selling a lpot of land through them and the latest I have is that there are 2 companies – Oaklands international the estate agency and Oaklands property developers. The developers are a two person partnership which is no longer trading! I have no idea other than that but the agency are still answering their phones
I live here on the CDS and have dealt with Oaklands International and I have to say have had a far from pleasant experience. I collaborated with them a few months ago in selling an apartment in a very popular development. It was only credit to my lawyers advice and my paperwork trail that I managed to receive the money owed to me. They had managed to get the owners details without my knowkledge (after viewing it with me twice) ultimately resulting in a sale of the property. Only after numerous phone calls and threats of legal action did I get paid. This is a small coast here and I wouldn’t trust them as far as I could throw them!
The owner of Oaklands International did go into partnership with someone else in a property development business. This was a completely seperate company although used the Oaklands name, (Oaklands Property Developers) but was apartently trying to feed one company from the other. The company no longer exists although I hear that he know tries to operate this through the real estate company and is not a developer.
As for their current financial situation, I did hear through a friend of mine over the weekend who also happens to be an ex employee that their bank accounts have been frozen and they cannot pay their staff, or anyone come to that.
Anderson – If you are not in breach of the contract paperwork you signed, you are legally entitled to your deposit back. My advise would be to liase directly through your lawyer. The main reason we all use lawyers is to protect ourselves in these situations, although if they are financial trouble, then I guess it doesn’t look to good for you.
With regards to recent claims about Oaklands International and their financial crisis I feel it necessary to make a reply. Oaklands International is currently not and has never been in financial crisis. It continues to expand even in this current depressed market.
I suggest that Aston (?) and Anderson(?) contact me personnally on 654158780 to discuss these matters if they feel it necessary. Our 3 offices are open until 7.00 every night and can be contacted anytime on 952583327(Los Boliches) 952587545(La Cala) or 952596979(Alhaurin).
In truth a partnership was dissolved but only for the good and the integrity of Oaklands International who always deliver promises that they make.
In the development section of the company, Oaklands during its continued expansion has secured a full time architect and project managers. In response to Oaklnds not being a developer, remember- Richard Branson owns virgin, he doesnt fly the planes!! If you have clients looking for bespoke villas-we offer an unparrelled service and are available for consultations both in Spain and the UK.
We believe these notes are being posted by a disgruntled member of staff and probably the same person who has been hacking into both our email server, website and sending menacing emails to members of staff. We are about to initiate legal proceedings against this indivdual.
Any queries, please do not hesitate to contact anybody at any of our offices.
To add to your post Tieman I would like to state I appreciate your conversation with us yesterday and after speaking with the lawyers today we have every confidence our sale is proceeding.
Having been away for a few days and now logging onto this forum I was taken aback if not somewhat surprised to see that you have made a presence onto this forum and put your comments forward.
The smugness of your replies is far from impressive.
The great thing about anonymity, is that on forums like this you can express your honest and true opinion without jeopardising cases in which lawyers are now investigating and yes, there are two sides to a story. However, and this is a big however, if you really are the true professional you claim to be, if your company operates a tight ship delivering promises you make, you do not have any other unsatisfied customers like myself and more importantly do not have any other person chasing you for money, then it will be clear to you who I am. My phone is on, you have it and I’ll be interested to hear what story you fabricate.
Oh and by the way, blaming postings on disgruntled members of staff is the oldest trick in the book
