This is one major reason that it is important to have a real estate agent or access to someone who knows the area before buying anywhere, but especially in Spanish cities.
The area around a flat you are considering to purchase may be perfectly quiet and peaceful by day, but after 10pm (or sometimes midnight) a nearby club will open, the dance music can blare, drunk patrons argue in the street, etc, and you may have the perfect vantage point to hear it all from the comfort of your bed.
What’s funny is the number of people (foreigners) who move to Born because it’s “lively”- only to then move out because they realise “lively” in Born translates to “incessant headbanging sleep-depriving cacophony” in most other cities in the western world.
