How do I find out whether a Building Licence has been obtained for this development before instructing a lawyer ? No one at the Town Hall can confirm, as they do not speak English.
Why not try communicating with them in Spanish then? Good grief… 🙄 Why should they speak English? Or….spend some euros and employ a translator if you can’t be bothered to learn the language yourself.
Can you recommend a teacher that will enable me to become fluent within the next couple of weeks ? If not, please keep your sarcastic comments to yourself !
Personally, I think getting a copy of a building licence from the developer may be a little risky in this day and age (with great respect to the previous contributor).
The copy a developer gives you may just be a copy of a building licence that has since been suspended.
The real safe way is to go via Town Planning and get the latest up-to-date status of the licence, if necessary with the help of a lawyer. Even if it cost 100 euros – which it shouldn’t – far better than £100,000 down the line as in my case, and many others, on another development.
The problem? Suspended building licence!
Also, get yourself a good, recommended, independent lawyer (not recommended by the developer or agent).

Thanks in anticipation
If this helps, I use a translater from MW services. Marissa is very good and fully understands our problems as none speakers. She is based in Almunecar not far from Iznajar http://www.servicesmw.com.
