After 3 years , countless near misses , false dawns , and numerous price reductions I have finally sold our Finca nr Tarragona . All the usual emotions came into play at the signing , have we sold too cheaply ?, why did we not sack our Architect sooner , but pretty soon the overwhelming sense of relief and joy soon swept over me .
However despite all the misery and pain associated with our ill fated purchase , on the way back to the airport I was aware that the very special pull that Spain still excerts on people is still there . Passing through a previously seldom visited area of hillside wine groves , you are immediately impacted with a feeling awe , this region is beautiful without being too pretty, some what remote but not isolated , hill side villages blending seamlessly into the the land scape , and strangely there you are finding yourself wondering about how much a little vine yard might be !!!
In the end it all comes down to price , we took a big hit but are able to move on , the money will be relocated to a new scheme on the Norfolk Coast , but if I am to be honest you are still left wondering if only things had worked out a bit differently , curious after all the anguish the dream is still not totally dead and buried , most odd , most odd indeed
One has to take decisions & views as one sees in that freeze frame of mind. I can feel that your emotions are still there. Perhaps in future you will return. Never say never.
Claire , thanks just to further confound things , we are now experiencing delays in getting the trades needed , cos the good ones are booked up for a while , recession ? who knows ?
Shakeel , Your right , frankly I could not be more surprised at my response had I been asked the same question only a week ago , my reply would have been never never never , what a difference a trip can make .
