We have recently bought a property near Antequera and are due to take it over in a few months time. We have seen in a Malaga newspaper that it is proposed to build an Airport in the AntequeraBobadilla area.

We are wondering if the airport will be for passengers or just freight. And, as these things can tend to affect property prices – can anyone provide us with any more information about the proposal?

If you know of a link where we can find out more – the advice will be gratefully received.

Malaga, Granada and Seville airports are all within easy driving distance so I would imagine it will be for freight and light aircraft

We are in the process of buying a property near Antequera also. Whilst I have no information about a new airport in the vicinity, I am aware that Antequera is building a very large Logistical operation/depot on the outskirts of the city, perhaps there is a link here regarding freight movements ❓

      Regards

Curiouser and curiouser. In the meantime I’ll carry on using the very large logistical operation/depot on the outskirts of the city of Malaga.

Apparently, there is a disused? Spanish Air Base somewhere in the region near Antequera that is being commissioned as a commercial Airport within the next three years

      Quote from another forum:
“in the long term Antequera plans to have 35% more land urbanised, there is an airport north of mollina which was an old spanish air base which has been approved to open for low cost flights and easyjet, ryanair have already shown great interest, the airport will be open in 3 years.”

      🙂

Grupo Vera are the promoters. In their latest statement they say they intend to have the airport open for business in 2009, and that they expect it to handle 4300 aircraft and half a million passengers in it’s first year.

      Seems rather optomistic to me….

      Thanks Bert,
Any idea of the exact location ❓
We are buying a property in Mollina and wondered how close it may be, handy for flights to UK maybe, but not if we will be under the flight path…..

I’ve only heard the “disused Spanish airbase” rumour, too. No idea where it is I’m afraid, but there can’t be that many around can there?
