Just received an email from Taylor Wimpey, I’ve never registered with them though!

However, they’re pushing 1 of their developments in Cala D’Or Mallorca, apartments from 215k eu. They are typical white blocks, smallish apts, reasonably well equipped but not stunning, some with views but others with views of other blocks.

What annoys me though is their advertising headlines, ‘Now is the time to buy’ ‘Don’t miss the Boat’ etc reminds me of the heady days on the Costas when this promoting was commonplace, now look where people are now who bought in some of these developments!

The cheapest at 215k without much of a view ends up costing best part of 240k on completion, then furniture package of say 10k, call it 250k for small 2 bed apt. Not a good deal IMO. The only safeguard it seems is that it’s Mallorca and not mainland Spain.

The start of misleading selling again???? I hope not! 🙁

Any time is a good time to buy if the price is right.

Seems very expensive in the current market. Offer 115,000 euros they may accept, money is tight etc .

Taylor Wimpey have just emailed me again, this time about Los Arqueros which I know very well. I don’t like that area at all, a bit like being in a hot crater with a golf course in the middle! 🙄

They must be getting desperate to be emailing me of all people considering my experiences and views about the C. Del Sol. 😉

However, Spain’s progress in the World Cup is probably a large morale boost for the country 😛

Taylor Wimpey is continually in the Spanish press boasting of its great sales. I read them with a pinch of salt…
As for Mallorca, it is an island and building land is scarce there. I think its a pretty reasonable price for Mallorca, but I don’t know the actual area. I suppose its a bit like homes on Jersey, I’m sure they’re not cheap and they don’t get the weather…just the tax breaks!
