      Hi all!

I have a mortgage insurance with BBVA which covers my monthly repayments upto a certain amount if I am made unemployed. After two weeks of going back and forth with my branch, and sending all necessary documents I have finally been told that I cannot claim on this insurance because my unemployment benefit was not processed in Spain via their government unemployment agency: INEM, but in the UK. I find this grossly unfair because I have consistently paid my mortgage and yearly insurance fees with the money I earned here in London, and now I need help to cover my insurance I cannot claim on it. I assumed that Spain and the UK being a part of the EU my unemployment status here in the UK would be recognised in Spain as well . Can anyone offer me any advice on this matter? Is there some sort of EU consumer law that I can throw at BBVA to force them to honor my insurance claim? Thank you.
