For those in the UK or with other access to ITV.

Not sure if the link I have just posted works. Text is thus:

      Part one of two.
Stories of British expats now living in Spain, contrasting the benefits of hot weather and attractive house prices with the pitfalls that arise from moving abroad. Mandy Vickerman is swapping life in Bradford for the sunnier climes of Marbella and looks forward to a big discount following the recent property crash. But Wally Tynan’s experience of Spain is blighted by an unfinished housing development and frequent sewerage problems.

The program is a two-part series starting on ITV at 9.00pm (10.00pm in Spain) tonight. The first part deals with two situations in Malaga, the second on June 24th delves into a situation in Benidorm and another in Cantoria (Almería). This last bit might be interesting (despite the – er – sometimes heavy propaganda element in these shows) as it deals with some major scams in this small moribund pueblo which has no agriculture, industry or tourism. Its only game is selling casas to the Brits, but it screwed up big time, with some astonishing rip-offs. There was a British protest march through the pueblo in September which, being a rare beast in Spain, will presumably feature in the show. Nine months later, are things better? Well, apparently no they aren’t.
I’ve got pictures and text on http://spanishshilling.blogspot.com if you hunt for it (Sept 2008).
