Can anyone give me any advice on a major issue.
My Brother and Sister-in-law moved to Spain 5 years ago, and all was well until they decided to move. They sold there property, and purchased a new home. My Brother- in-law, is a stickler for making sure all is above board and was assured all was ok on his new purchase. Suddenly he finds there is an outstanding Dept of 800 Euro, this was paid off by the seller. On applying for a licence to build a pool he finds there is a Denouncier on his home and land, 4 years have elapsed on the Denouncier and he has been told he may have to demolish his property and can not commence any modernisation or extention work until further notice. As you can imagine they are worried sick, as all there capital is tied up in this property. Can anyone please advice on what or any steps they should now be taking.
I would like to give you mi opinion regarding your relatives situation, your text is not very understandable and it would be appreciated if you explain the details more clearly, for example do mean the spanish word denuncia (report) ? and who has started the report or proceedings ?
Have they received any official notifications from the council or is it just talks from neighbours ?
When did they exactly bought the property, when was the building done ?
Is the property located in Andalucía ? this is important as here we have a rather strict regional law (Ley de Ordenación Urbanística) regarding urban development in rural areas aswell as in urban areas.

I would agree fully that the main thing is to clearly spell out what is the real situation. Is there an embargo on the property in the land regitry, do you have anything in writing from the Ayuntamiento or any other authority? Until you can describe the exact situation you may be panicking over nothing.
Just stay calm, find out the actual facts and come back to the forum where I am sure relevant responses can be found.
