The unions behind the Iberia strike are using nationalism and anti-British slogans to justify their action. They claim that Iberia is a victim of anglo-saxon greed, and all that.
In reality BA is losing millions thanks to their fusion with Iberia. I’m not sure it was a very good idea. Perhaps they didn’t know what they were getting into.
I read that BA mainly wanted the slots, especially into Latin America. During the strike BA didn’t fly into Málaga but Jerez. OH had a flight booked on Thursday and cancelled because he didn’t like the idea of over 2 hours to Marbella. Some appalling scenes when strikers invaded Terminal 4 in Madrid with Passengers getting shoved and trampled! Not sure why they were allowed to do it.
