Diario Sur today…list of licences being reviewed/revoked including La Reserva (2) and Pino Golf (Elviria) first time I have seen this one mentioned. (behind the shops in Elviria).

The PM Zapatero is visiting Marbella May 2 if anyone feels like demonstrating or giving him a petition etc.

Been to Santa Maria Village today. They have a blockage (or something) in their sewers. I walk my dogs past there and cannot now go because of filthy smelly sewage coming out of an inspection chamber. No one official there but spoke to a cleaner and a gardener, both very pleasant and keeping the place nice. They kept trying to raise someone called Geronimo on the mobile but without success, so left a message that I shall shortly be visiting the Town Hall 😡

Weather is now very warm, have a good weekend everyone 🙂

Not sure if this is positive news and it follows what appears anyway to be another article of how the marbella council are trying to sort the mess out ?

Ángeles Muñoz discusses Marbella development with British firms
      Friday, 27 April, 2007.

      SUR in English

The seminar and reception with the PP candidate for Mayor of Marbella was organised by the British Chamber of Commerce

On Wednesday, 25th April, members of the British Chamber of Commerce met with ángeles Muñoz, the Partido Popular candidate for Mayor of Marbella, who spoke on “The Proposal for the Development of Marbella.”
      Seminar

The seminar took place at the Hotel Puente Romano in Marbella and consisted of a presentation by Sra Muñoz, who then answered questions from the members present. This was followed by a reception for all guests.

The event was organised by the British Chamber of Commerce, and sponsored by MDCI Project Managers.

“It is important that our members and the business community have an open dialogue with the political candidates in the run-up to the elections, since we can all make positive contributions to the future of Marbella”, said Laura Stanbridge, Chair of the British Chamber of Commerce’s Andalucía Committee.

      Meeting with Costa Networking

óscar Fernández, one of the candidates on the PSOE list for the municipal elections in Marbella, spoke at the April meeting of Costa Networking at Bistro Los Naranjos in Nueva Andalucía on Tuesday. Fernández presented a summary of the Socialist party’s project for Marbella as well as explaining how the Spanish electoral system works and how the resident foreign community can take part.

Sorry Jim didn’t make it very clear the 2 in brackets was for 2 different licences. It stated La Reserva de Marbella 30 homes and 168 homes. There was no further information.

Thanks very much for that Katy – VERY interesting. I’ve tried to see info on Sur in English but no joy so far 😳

      Jim:
I’ve just had a look at all my documents & think that:
’30’ refers to the whole of Manzana 5; (the small block)
      ‘168’ refers to Manzana 3, Block 7 ❗

You probably know that M3-B7 is the biggest & is grossly overbuilt from original ‘plans’. Don’t know if this affects you at all ❓ ❓

Jim – think it says the licences on these 198 dwellings (M5 & M3-B7) are being reviewed, & that Snr Penarroya is implicated in the ‘Malaya Corruption’ regarding these 198 licences.

      Suzanne.

The Monday meeting reported in http://www.abc.es
      Put licencias into the search.

It mainly concerns the commercial centre, can’t see anything re. La Reserva.

      Good Luck

      Quote from Sur in English:
      ‘Marbella needs 10,000 council houses

Marbella has a deficit of 10,000 council houses, largely the result of fifteen years of Gil government, which refused to cede any municipal land for council housing. The municipality’s new urban plan attempts to tackle the problem over the coming years, with all main party candidates for the municipal elections at the end of the month undertaking to establish municipal housing institutes. Many workers in the town have had to move to neighbouring towns to live in, because of high house prices in the Marbella area. ‘

Wonder if some of the ‘Illegal builds’ will be used for these council houses, involving ‘deals’ with corrupt developers etc. ❓
