  Some friends of mine have heard that the Spanish government are now willing to help out struggling homeowners (who live in Spain) by paying a portion of their mortgage for a period of time (not sure how long).
  
  Has anyone else heard anything about this? Any details?

  There was a scheme announced by the govt last year to help the unemployed with their mortgages.
