      Good afternoon.
      I am looking for a recommendation of a very good lawyer, for a client of mine.

      My client bought a country property in a town with an alledgedly corrupt mayor, and within 6 months was fraudulently issued with a fine of €37,000 for a planning matter that he was not guilty of. He has used a lawyer inland (with possible connections to the town hall), for the last 2 years to resolve this matter, and they have done nothing to help him, despite charging him more than €2,000. He now needs a reasonably aggressive lawyer to fight this case for him, and I wonder who you would suggest that is based anywhere on the western Costa del Sol. Many thanks for your help.

      That’s not a good response, but after the things I’ve witnessed here in Spain and the problems I’ve read about on this forum over the years, I can understand reluctance from the forum members to make a recommendation. I know dozens that I would never recommend to anyone
      There are a few good lawyers though, and I’m lucky enough to have one. The problem is that my client who has been fined, is not dealing with a rational body, but an “allegedly” corrupt and very aggressive town hall. For that reason, he needs at least their equal or preferably better. My lawyer is great but I don’t think he is the man to fight this.
      From memory, and a quick search just now, I have 3 names and I wonder what the members think of these;
      They are Carlos Cómitre of Ley57, Lawbird and María Luisa de Castro of Costa Luz Lawyers. Any feedback would be very helpful thank you.

      Only from personal reports, Maria del Castro doesnt seem frightened of shaking any feathers. Lawbird doesnt have a bad reputation but I havent used them either so cant comment and Carlos, I havent dealt with at all so again cannot comment

      I can recommend Lawbird. I have used them for both conveyancing and litigation work. Their lawyers have secured very good outcomes for clients who were involved with Aifos. I suspect that they take a very hard line where necessary, especially where any hint of corruption is involved.

      I can let you have an individual name if you would like one. Please PM me if you do.

      Thank you very much Katy, Inez, Oliver B and to others who sent me pm’s. It seems to me that these 3 lawyers are reasonably equal in their talents, so I’ve sent the three of them through to my client. Looking at the three of them it’s difficult to call, but I think I would go with María Luisa del Castro as she is also further away from the town in question, but no disrespect to the other two whatsoever.
      At some point in the future, I will let you know how it all turns out. Thanks again and buen fin de semana a todos.
