Should a gas certificate be issued when purchasing a property?  After purchasing my property I had to pay out 180 euros to have the connections and pipes to the gas bottles updated as they were more than 10 years out of date.

The previous owner should have given you the gas inspection cert. for the property. This usually gets forgotten.

In theory, the flexible gas pipes are dated so if more than 5 years old the gas company should refuse to change the bottles. How rigidly the gas companies apply the rules I don’t know.
