A short paragraph tucked away in this weeks SUR
Ex-mayor of Compta, Leovigildo Lopez, has been fined 2,160 euros and banned from holding public office for seven years for granting planning permission to build on land not reserved for urbanisation in the area know as El Pulio. Lopez was mayor of Canillas de Albaida for 12 years and mayor of Competa for 16, before deciding not stand for re-election in 2007.
Both villages are a stones throw from La Vinuela where the Junta has got its teeth into similar goings on. After 28 years in office, how many skeletons can be left rattling around in that time?
