Has someone torched one of these places without an LFO 😉 😉 There is a lot of smoke coming from the direction of Santa Maria and two fire planes are in and out. Could be the area where they were refused permission for a new golf course which strangely keeps going up in flames ❗
I found the following in a forum that discusses forest fires in Spain and I submit for everyone’s information.

Incendio forestal en Elviria, entre Marbella y Fuengorila, ha afectado a alcornocal, parece casi controlado, ya tienen los constructores más superficie para edificar, lo del alcornocal de elviria es de verguenza nacional.
Translation: Forest fire in Elviria,…., has afected the cork oak grove (forest – A UNESCO nature reserve!), it seems to be under control (now under control), now the developers have got even more land to build on. What is happening with the cork forest in Elviria is a national disgrace! 😥
Charlie you’re a star thanks. I was thinking the same as the article, their was a very large one there 2 years ago which suddenly started in three places!! Sad isn’t it. 👿
If someone was indeed responsible for this fire I do hope the police get them! —and their punishment should not be sitting in prison but planting cork trees for the rest of their natural lives ……without any tools other than their bare hands, I forgot to add!
Personally, I think that someone started it. Temperatures were not high enough for a fire to occure, I think. We have these kind of fires in Greece and my heart bleeds when I see things like that happening.
As far as I know there is a new law in force that prevents ‘burnt land’ being built on for 30 years. This removes a large part of the incentive to torch land so that it can be developed. This is certainly the case in Murcia, but I don’t know if it is a national or regional law.
Evil developers aren’t the only cause of forest fires.
Charlie, I quite agre, the punishment should be very hard. It is very dry here at the moment, so a fire would spread very fast. It does not mean that it was started deliberate. I have seen many careless people. Throwing burning cigarettes out of the car window is very common. Also gardeners staritng a bonfire in the middle of summer. The story of the foreign couple who got lost in the woods and in their wisdom lit a fire so the rescuers could find them, only to burn acres of forrest to the ground! Mind boggles! 😯 🙄 The area around Mairena was so beautiful with cork trees, now almost all is gone with new developments that just seem to take more and more. Altough it does not make it much better, lets hope the fire was an accident.
Hear it was someone on private land burning stubble, burnt around 7 hectares, this despite the fact that even small garden fires are prohibited in summer. 🙄
