We have all read below of so may people’s difficulties. Well where is best in this economic climate?
I would be interested if anyone can suggest an appropriatearea in Spain for a single non glitzsy female with very busy job in the uk who wants the following
a good quality/ luxury 2 or 3 bed home that is in a rural area, but for obvious reasons not isolated.
Easy to maintain and does not require restoring and hassle
Somewhere that has good weather, but not barren,
That is not in an environment that is overdeveloped
Within half an hour way from the sea and within 45 minutes of an airport and in or near to mountains.
I wouldn’t recommend inland for a single person. Extremely hot in the summer, not much to do and very few work prospects. looks nice in the winter when everything is green though
The other day I went to Marina del Este between Nerja and Almunecar. Lovely rugged quiet uncrowded coasts and coves, a nice little marina and not too far from Granda and Malaga airport. I would swap an inland place for a nice little apartment there for on heart beat
I can’t help feeling that Mallorca comes the closest to what you are looking for. It’s got everything you mention and has to be one of the most beautiful parts of Spain. Not cheap though….
I agree with Mark. Majorca is my all time favourite.. and where I would love to live. But prices are astronomical!! We have been there for the last 5 years and hope to go again later in the year. The North of the island is my preference.
Thank you everyone. You have certainly given me lots to think about. Majorca is lovely. I have been a couple of times and fancied myself in the North West part, but the prices did seem very high.
I also stayed at a friends place on the South West coast during October. Everywhere seemed closed down including most of the restaurants in Port Andratx. It did not seem to be a place that was used all year round.
The other obvious point is that it is an Island. Are you not limited? I am however still going to have a look at some of the agents websites this weekend.
The Alpujarras sounds like heaven. That is what I really want, but the point made about it not being a sensible proposition sadly echoes that of friends and family. I am however going to try and get over there this summer and also look at Marina del Este.
