I had the misfortune to stay at the El Ancla (main road Benalmadena nearly opp Lidl) a couple of years ago, i won’t disgust you with the details but i got a refund from Mrs Smellie (really) and rented a place across the way. While we were at El Ancla we met the guys running the bar on the patio, a father and son from up north, they called it “mod cons” or something similar, does anyone know if they are still there???
would be great to know.

The bar is still there but not too sure who is running it at present, would be surprised if it’s the same people though as it’s impossible to make a living there and the Scottish woman who owns it is by all acounts, not very nice. You have my deepest sympathy’s, El Ancla is dreadful and thats the polite description 😆

Thanks for the info Flynn, couldn’t agree more about mrs Smellie, the guys name was Richard had a lambretta parked outside. I know they thought they’d bought a “pig in a poke”
Maybe someone else has some info

Chilli, friends of mine have just returned from Montemar and said they think the bar has a new name, so looking like your friend may have moved on.
