“Developers across the globe are turning to increasingly extreme methods to improve cash flow; but few have gone as far as one indebted construction boss in Spain who kidnapped a bank manager in an attempt to secure a €50,000 loan.

The Belgian entrepreneur who lives in Marbella approached the manager in a car park and pointed a gun at him, according to Spanish newspaper El Pais. He said hired killers would hurt the manager’s family unless he arranged the loan and gave him his car. He had previously been refused a loan for a lack of guarantees.

The manager asked to make a phone call and used coded language to inform his colleague of the situation. The police then arrived and arrested the kidnapper.” Source OPP magazine
