      not currently.

but telefonica generally run good offers. I’d check with them first.

This is a first for me. I have never ever heard anyone say anything about telefonica that could be construed as positive. I have wasted a lot of time and money talking to their ironically named Help Desk.
Any alternative is worth looking at, because it strikes me that telefonica staff must be on commission with a prize going each month to the person that can p*ss off the biggest amount of customers.
I’ve seen that carrefour and ya.com are offering ADSL. If they are not better than telefonica, god help us…

My Ya.com connection went down this morning. Heaven knows how long it will be down – last time it was 3 weeks. Ringing the customer despair line is a waste of time, they make you hold listening to music, then cut you off. I’m having to connect via my mobile phone. Same old story.

We use wanadoo, they seem OK, no problems with the service going down etc (and we sometimes have very dodgey phone lines!) except for the fact we thought we were paying 34 euro a month inc IVA but our latest bank statement showed something like 44 euros coming out to them….hummph!!

To be fair to Ya.com, I have to report that it’s now working again, so only down for a few hours.

I have been a very happy customer of Arrakis (http://www.arrakis.com) for the past seven years. The company is based in Seville and is part of BT. Many of the staff speak English – that is say, that when I speak to them in my accented Spanish they usually try to answer in English.

They are not the cheapest supplier but I have had not a single problem in the last two or three years.

However, when I recommended Arrakis to my neighbour last year they made an complete mess of everything. So they are not infallible.

On a separate note, I recommend buying the modem and router from your chosen broadband supplier rather than the computer shop down the road. If you have a problem and the equipment used is not supplied by the broadband supplier you may find that telephone technical support is very limited.

seems like adsl in spain is like everything else, stuck in the last century.

not that im complaining mind, thats why i live here, cos i like it! 😆

      😯

i was not saying anything positive! But telefonica do have some interesting offers. AND I do know the Telefonica Help Desk is a bit of an oxymoron, but until they deregulate….

I’ve always used telefonica and never had a problem in 2 years using ADSL. When there was a fault in the phone line they came within 2 hours.

      Hi there

having used initially telefonica I then went to Tiscali – now Wanadoo. Would not recommend them if they were the last on the planet. Customer service sucks or just doesnt exist. When I finally cancelled the contract they held onto the line for 4 whole months meaning i couldnt get broadband.

I eventually went back to Telefonica and whilst it hasnt been all plain sailing they do at least have a help desk in English. I did have cause to use it when getting started as they hadnt initiated the line, but they got onto it within 24 hours. From being a real anti telefonica to starting to warm again, they are at least stable.

I know many who are on Ya.com and the experiences are similar to the ones expressed. Also know a few people on Arrakis who spent nearly a month without adsl because they had problems with their servers.

I guess it is a gamble but Telefonica are at least as good as any one else – better the devil you know….
