Ugh! it makes shocking reading katy, reminds us of those bad old days, we were so lucky to get out unscathed in the end but had to fight.
Amazed that with actual experiences and true facts, that the Irish Co can just threaten anyone with legal proceedings whenever they want, including Mark.
It really puts you off buying abroad, who can you trust, even word of mouth must make it difficult for the remaining good guys in estate agency?
Good on The Olive Press though, the only Spanish paper for expats which tells the truth and reveals the scams. 🙄
I am truly amazed that in this day and age with all the news around that anyone anywhere believes they will get a guaranteed rental income or a resale at a considerably higher price!
Any supposed guarantee rental systems will have the rental amount already built into the price, one way or the other. Either on top of the actual selling price, so it can be given back to the buyer (minus any actual rental monies made over the term) or already in the purchase price!
These scams make more work for us as people look for established agencies with a good reputation and who dont look like they are about to run off with their hard earned.
All deposits should stay with the buyers lawyers, without question, as lawyers can ensure terms of contracts are adhered to.
Use your own lawyer or one recommended by a friend, or who has a good reputation – they are out there.
Use your own mortgage broker or fiercely independent one who will advise you correctly.
Luckily thousands of people have done and are happy but my goodness, these reports make my blood boil!
Im certainly glad the Olive Press had the balls to report this though!

Believe it not Angie, they actually had a pop at me once, back in their early days, most unfairly I thought because they didn’t at least contact me first, but we had a chat and I thought they were very nice people, and they just promised to contact me in future, which was fair enough – no need for libel lawyers, well hardly ever I think.
Having said that, will probably have a bum full of buckshot from them next week! 😉
They do seem to be quite fearless though, and my wife was actually enjoying reading their paper when she was over, which is a rarity for the English press we have. They are very brave but it will be a challenge to always stay responsible with it I suppose.
Didn’t Mark have a sticky at the top of this forum for a long time advising us not to discuss XXX?
Can one assume that their solicitors got to him?
If you delete the initials in your post above, then we are just discussing an article in the Olive Press, solicitors though can get to everyone, especially on all forums such as this, as this and others can be highly prejudicial, inflammatory and defaming to an unbelievable degree.
Companies, individuals and industries can be hugely affected by ill informed, inaccurate or downright slanderous comment, however my view on that is, it is no worse than happens down the pub, and at least you have an option to become involved, but I can quite understand why some companies just wouldn’t even try, and therefore resort to legal action or more normally a simple request to have their name removed.
I am worried though if literally hundreds of people are signing up to protest against one company, and I understand the company was itself mentioned by an MP in the House of Commons not so long ago with a call for some sort of investigation or official enquiry, so this link was a valuable one because I wouldn’t have known about it otherwise, so perhaps we don’t need to use the company name or initials, and we can then stay up to date.
Chris, you may know who might be behind this hopefully.
A friend of mine has rec’d an email from The Big Spanish Sale. They allow you to choose ‘View this Content’ where nothing comes up, or ‘View all content from Sender’ which has not been tried in case of scam/virus etc. There doesn’t appear to be a website for them!

They said my friend’s email was on their database, what do you/anyone think of this.
Am sorry never heard of it, but I have various alter egos registered myself on various sites, and am alarmed at the amount of unsolicited email these addresses receive, from companies they have never registered with.
No website involved, well then yes, looks very dodgy to me, I sometimes know who people are by the design and layout of their mail, especially if it relates to the CDS, but haven’t a clue from this.
