The bailout of Spain’s financial system has cost the state 220 billion euros, of which 40 billion will never be recovered, according to the European Commission. That means Spanish tax payers will end up having to pay the bill that amounts to €850 for every Spanish resident (unless we can get the Germans to pay 😉 )

Bankia was bailed out to the tune of 22.5 billion, of which 18 billion is gone for good. CatalunyaCaixa has burnt 12 billion.

This money hasn’t just disappeared of course. I just wonder if they’ll ever investigate whose back pocket it went into.
