We have been shopping for a suitable, modern style villa (no wrought iron bars on the windows and no non-descript white concrete and glass rectangles either) without success because we want some features that are not common in the local real estate:

1. a living room with cathedral ceilings or an atrium,
2. a large kitchen with an island and gas stove, and
3. large bedrooms with ensuite baths

We have considered the possibility of new construction with those features but working with a modular house company rather than starting from a blank page. Does anyone have any recommendations for one or more good modular house companies or actual experience and persuasive arguments for not pursuing a modular house on the Costa Del Sol. We are also interested in avoiding the construction of an expensive “white elephant”, so any helpful advice would be appreciated.
