What is a reasonable sum for contents insurance for a 3 bed apartment in Spain?

I need to be covered for water leaks/fire etc, but my understanding is that the building is covered by the community.

After 8 years using the bank provided insurance, I feel like they are now extremely uncompetitive.

      Any suggestions of reliable companies?

      Thanks.

jp1, do you mind saying how much you have been paying?

We saved over £250 by going through a broker in Gibraltar. Not just the price, the willingness to pay out is important. Zurich had a bad reputation for paying out on the CDS. Some of the spanish companies have punative small print and when/if they pay out take ages.

I second katy’s comments. Please ensure that you inform your Bank in writing that you do not wish to renew. Watch the Bank statement like a Hawk. This is specially where the Bank has direct debit instructions.

I had my Car insurance paid out in a similar manner when the policy was cancelled and taken to another Insurance provider as a result I ended up have the Car Insured twice which is illegal.

You guessed it the bank is not accepting any responsibilty. I have little or no confidence in insuring contents wheter is UK or Spain as I know thay will just not pay up.

I am paying just under 340 Euros for a 3 bed 100m2 first floor apartment.

This year it went up by 10%. Last year the increase was also around 10%

I think (at least compared to the UK where contents insurance is around £100 for my house) it’s extremely expensive.

In UK the property Insurance is roughly about -1.50% of the vlaue. Contents can vary due to the location of the property, excess, value of the items insured etc

      Welcome to rip-off Spain.

With a few exceptions like alcohol, tobacco and petrol, Spain is now more expensive than the UK.

Banks, telcos and insurance companies are the worst. They fleece us in Spain.
