According to this article Murcia should be linked to the AVE network next year, which is positive news for the tourist industry there:

The economic impact of this new service on the Alicante economy is expected to be in the region of 70 million euros per year, creating 735 jobs in tourism and the services sector, according to a study undertaken by Alicante University and Avant.
2.25 million passengers are expected to use the AVE each year, giving extra support to tourism, hostelry and sporting events, as well as generating additional interest in property within the province of Alicante.
Works are underway to link Murcia into this important arterial high speed route and the line is expected to arrive in Murcia next year.
