Urban land prices rise 4pc in a year

The price of building land in urban areas stood at 212 €/m2 at the end of Q1, according to the latest figures from the Government (Fomento).

That represents a rise of 3.7pc over 12 months but a fall of 6.7pc compared to the previous quarter.

The highest price for building land was to be found in Barcelona, where it stood at 993.7 €/m2, and the lowest price was in Lleida (103.1 €/m2).

The relatively high price of land in Barcelona can be explained by a shortage of building land given the city’s location wedged between the hills and the sea.
