What kind of property buyer does the Costa Brava attract?
The majority of property owners on the Costa Brava are Catalans from cities like Barcelona and Girona.
In the summer months foreign holiday-makers descend on the area en mass, as the Costa Brava is easy to reach by car and train from countries like France, Swizterland, Holland, and Germany.
Foreign holiday-home owners are a mixed bag: There is a big German presence in the north around Roses, and the area is also popular with Dutch home buyers, who like the hills and the fact that they can get to the Costa Brava in one day’s drive.
The British contingency is small but growing, and tends to be more affluent than the Britons who buy further south on the Costa Blanca (massive generalisation!).
