For sale direct from the owner!

This beautifully renovated and remodeled thirteenth century house is located in the heart of the historic quarter of Cervera del Maestre.

The house sits on a small narrow cobblestone street directly below the Moorish castle and overlooks both the valley below and Mediterranean sea/coast.  From the terrace there are magnificent views that include two coastal towns and exotic sunsets.

The house has been completely refurbished with entrances from two different streets – one on the ground floor and one on the top floor. The accommodation comprises a spacious kitchen-dining room, separate living room, three bedrooms, two bathrooms, cloakroom and a terrace with panoramic views.

The village is approximately twenty-five minutes drive to three coastal beach resort towns, the most famous being the fishing village and old walled city of Peniscola (the filming location for Game of Thrones).

Due to the historic nature of the location, the street is safeguarded from traffic with a bollard (each resident has a key to allow for dropping off and picking up).  This ensures there is little to no traffic noise to affect the peace and tranquillity.  Parking which can often be an issue in villages is also no problem – there is a small parking area just 10m from the house and a further, much larger parking area about 300m away.

The house was reformed and renovated with the idea of retaining as much of the original stone as possible but creating a comfortable and stylish living space which can be enjoyed throughout the year.

The house is set across 4 levels – there are two separate entrances and this creates a degree of flexibility which means the house can be adapted to suit your lifestyle and needs.

Lowest level – this is the basement area which features an original 11th Century archway – this actually provided an entrance to the castle by riders on horseback!   The arch has been fully restored and this space could easily be converted into a further living space, in fact being so large, it could also become a separate apartment. There is even a doorway to the street and a guest bathroom on this level.

Level 1 – This floor can be entered from the main street level – through the main door, you find stairs going up to the kitchen and dining space. On this level are the master bathroom and this leads into the master bedroom.

Through a door in the master bedroom you can go down yet another level to the guest floor that has two additional bedrooms and a guest bathroom. Part of this bathroom has security glass where you can stand and see the huge rock below on which the house is partially built.

Level 2 – this floor is home to the kitchen dining room and a small sitting room.  Off the kitchen/dining room is a large but narrow terrace and lets lots of light into the house.  The terrace is ideal for enjoying breakfast and has great views.

Level 3 – the top floor is the roof terrace which is large and has gorgeous views to the valley and the sea on one side and the castle behind.  It has railings all round and is large enough for a good size table and chairs, sun loungers, a bar BBQ and even a hot tub if wanted!

The house is beautifully redesigned and tastefully furnished with all modern amenities and really conveys a sense of the history of the house.  It is not a conventional layout but this adds to the charm.  The number of levels may sound daunting but there is a stairwell that goes from the very top to the bottom and allows access to the two entrances.  There are also skylights at each level which bring in lots of light and make the house feel spacious.
